I graduated in 1970 from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Illustration. I worked several years in that field in Philadelphia and Boston and once married, went back to school to get my teaching degree in art.  I was a founding member of the Darke County Art Association in Greenville, Ohio where I won several awards for juried shows with my silk screen prints and my water color paintings.  After taking a break from my artwork while general life intervened, and after retiring and moving full time to the lake, I was asked to be on the board of the Arts Center of Yates County and my love of enjoying and making art was rekindled.  I have always been adept at drawing what I see, but after taking a painting class in Georgia with well-known artist Qiang Huang (pronounced Chong Wong), he opened my eyes to painting with oils, something I had never done before.  I love the mixing of colors, the different effects possible with the tools one can use, and being able to put on canvas a personal interpretation of every little thing that one sees every day.  Painting has taught me to see better—to really absorb and appreciate what I see each day and had always taken for granted, and I feel fortunate to be able to experience that.  I like to think my work is impressionistic as it is certainly representational but not photographic. And I am learning to use light as a tool—to bring excitement and life to whatever object I paint.   I feel that I am very early in my journey as an artist though, so I have no idea what the future will bring. Stay tuned.
