A Taste of Cider with Apple Barrel Orchards

Join Allison and Michael Hiller of Apple Barrel Orchards for this installation of “A Taste of Cider”. The couple are fourth-generation owners of Allison’s family farm, which includes a seasonal farm store, u-pick fruit orchards and a cidery. In the two years since opening their cidery, the Hillers have almost tripled their production, starting with 2 ciders and now offering 12 different ciders– all from apples grown, harvested and fermented at the farm. With over 29 varieties of apples grown on the farm, their ciders include a mix of dessert and heirloom apple blends, single varietals, fruited ciders, a hopped cider and more! Their focus is on producing well balanced dry ciders that highlight the uniqueness and flavors of apples grown in our region. Their efforts have earned them a gold medal in 2023 and a silver and bronze medal in 2024 from the U.S. Open Cider Championship. Topics for the workshop will include an overview of apples they have planted/are currently planting, their production process and how they choose what apples are used to create each cider.
