Botanical Pigments, Dyes & Paints with Karen Hyams

Join Karen Hyams at our beautiful Sunny Point lakeside art studio for this exciting class in botanical colorants! Students will learn how to extract pigment from plant material and different ways to use it in their artwork. We will use flowers and leaves to create beautiful designs and dye fabric, or you can make your own ink or watercolor. This class will focus on exploration, experimentation and fun! A supply fee of $20 is due to Karen at the start of class, and includes glass bottles, compostable watercolor pans, all filters and chemicals, and pre-extracted pigments and teas to work with. Dyeable natural fabric is available for purchase in limited supply, but students are welcome and encouraged to bring their own fabrics and plant material to experiment with. Suitable for all levels ages 12+.
