Local Winemakers

Local winemakers share their process and their work. Join us at the Arts Center to learn how various local winemakers create their signature products and learn how to taste the differences. Different winemakers every class. Must be 21 years old to attend. Enrollment is limited.

On February 13, we welcome winery consultant Peter Bell, long-time winemaker at Fox Run Vineyards on Seneca Lake. Canadian-born Peter has extensive wine experience spanning from France to New Zealand and in the Finger Lakes. Perhaps he is best known for fostering a wine community through mentoring and hosting regular tasting groups to explore ideas about the science and art of winemaking. Peter was named one of “Wine’s Most Inspiring People of 2023” by Wine Industry Advisor and received the Jim Finkle Industry Award in 2020 for his long-standing commitment to the Finger Lakes and New York wine industry.

He will be “deconstructing wine”. This is one you won’t want to miss!

Cute free attraction Very cute art gallery. The exhibits change every six or so weeks. It is free to enter and look around. The ambiance was very nice with music playing in the background. I especially liked the old, gigantic vault used when it was a bank that has been refurbished into a little jewelry sales area.

Original Art Abounds The Art Center of Yates County offers sculpture, jewelry, paintings, pottery, note cards, pens, and many other HAND MADE works of art. The staff are helpful and friendly, the space is a wonderful converted bank building (you can go inside the vault to view some fine hand made jewelry) which offers plenty of wall space and nice lighting. If you are visiting the area, you must stop in to take home something locally made!

Vibrant, interesting, welcoming We had some time to spend at this lovely arts centre, which had beautiful art featured from local artists. I want to come back to try one of their classes on their Keuka Lake property.

The instructor was knowledgeable, organized and clear. She was warm and approachable. I was a bit intimidated by the idea of creating an abstract painting on a large, for me, area. She helped me get started and to make use of color theory and composition. I was “in the zone “ in no time. The space was comfortable, well lit and had tons of supplies.i will be back !

This gallery is a hidden gem When visiting the Finger Lakes, don't miss this gallery. It is conveniently located in the small village Penn Yan, NY and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a wonderful display of art from the local community and apparently, it changes every 4-8 weeks. Also, there is an old bank vault and door that is quite unique. The door itself is a work of art. Worth a stop.

Nice local art We enjoyed viewing the art created by the local artists. We spent about 10 minutes in the store. The lady behind the counter was not at all engaging though.
